I see “open source” as the embodiment of the underlying values of the original hacker culture (ref: Hacker’s Manifesto, Fravia, et al), of which I identified since I faced the digital bits going through a 9600 line in the ’90. It’s not just about code, it’s about a society that is able to leave scarcity behind, understand everyone is interconnected, and acknowledges that money, greed and personal gains are a widespread driver of many issues.
I feel that with very few exceptions we’re still far behind in awareness. We’re blind of how “the other” work.
The integration of psychology and complex thinking in society.
The Piano / Not just as a symbol of art and engineering combined, but also because it exists only for a matter of chance: a writer doing an enthusiastic review a decade later, otherwise it would have disappeared in history.
Ulysses / Focused product, highly polished, small team, going for the long run.
